what BMW said is absolutely true, there is also the aspect that in your friends case, the male may have homosexual thoughts and thus your friend is a "safe" haven. There is also the side of just blatant stupidity. Thanks to the media at large and the bullcrap propaganda that was spread back in the 80's/90's when Rue Paul hit the scene the entire view on what a transgender is, what its implications are, and what one is supposed to act and be like are horribly messed up to anyone who has never dealt with it. most people are still under the impression that if you are transgendered, you have just one day decided that you are trans and you just walk in have a surgery and you are done. Or that you are just saying you are so you can be a man going into the women's room for a peepshow or the other way around. Ignorance in humanity runs very very deep in a great deal of subjects. The vast majority of humanity has lost the ability to think for themselves and become mere "sheeple" at the beckon call of the media. The age we live in we have a constant connection to the vast knowledge of the web, yet few use it to learn. So those would be my thoughts on the possibilities of why they said that. The could have also just been being a jerk and saying "your not going to be one of us" again ignorance and "sheeple" behavior at its best.

You both bring up very valid points. I wish we didn't live in a world that promotes these thoughts and behaviors. All we can do is try to change those attitudes around us and hope it keeps being passed on to others...

i know this isn't exactly the same thing, but i have had A LOT of straight guys hit on me, want to have sex with, and have sex with me. i'm not very effeminate or the kind of person you'd just look at and says, "oh, he's gay", but i am openly gay and i freely tell everyone i'm gay. it's also pretty obvious if i'm in a bar (by who i'm chatting up and checking out) that i'm gay. i've never pretended not to be, i've never hid it. when straight guys sit and talk to me for any length of time, i tell them i'm gay. i've even asked some of these guys - some who had girlfriends or wives and were in pretty serious relationships - why they wanted to have sex with a guy if they were gay. most had no answer, some said they were curious. and to the ones who adimitted they were curious, i felt like a safe way to explore that because (their words) i wasn't some "nelly fag". i guess they felt better about sex with a masculine guy than an effeminate one?? doesn't really make much sense to me...
i'd guess with someone transgendered, they are getting the best of both worlds. they're getting the opportunity to satisfy their latent homosexual tendencies with someone who looks like a guy, but to do it in a more acceptable and safe way (if the person hasn't had any surgeries and still had all their female bits and pieces) with someone they still consider a girl.
and let's face it - most people are still close-minded asses about anything to do with gender or sexuality. a trans guy (MtF) frequents the shelter i work at and they were talking about him today...calling him a Lola ("you know, like the song", they'd say), a cross-dresser, and a shemale. the discussion started out about clients with mental disorders who aren't on their medications and come to the shelter - people with schizophrenia, DID, paranoia, post traumatic stress disorder...and then they started talking about this guy as, "but one of the craziest i've ever seen was this Lola named blah blah blah." I almost jumped out of my skin that they were talking about clients as being "crazy" in the first place...and then calling someone transgendered those names.
Lack of compassion pisses me off more than anything..especially when it's done in the name of christianity by people who claim to have compassion for all. Rant over.

I really relate to this share Thanks BEME you always have alot to bring that is thought provoking,, i have DID and am very fortunate,, i dont know how I made it , but I have a male that takes care of business and would never let us be homeless he is my trans named Eric there is no way in hell I would put him out there to this horribly cruel bullying sigmatizing world , He is the wind beneath my wings pays bills very responsible i he was a band director etc etc but i have other more vulnerable parts I am worried for the day Eric cannot be the man,, he always wanted to be a male and if he did it,, what would happen I am scared to find out,, thanks much all of you rock,, and you put it out there !!

Bememymine, you are also bringing up a good point with men wanting to experiment with their homosexual urges in a more "acceptable" situation. It doesn't surprise me at all actually.

I just found this whole situation bass ackwards because a straight guy hitting on my friend, who is obviously manly (which is why I posted the photo), to then have the audacity to say that they wanted to screw him as a chick just doesn't make sense. Granted they were at a bar, but this isn't the first time this has happened to my friend. It's just a foreign concept.

Also, society needs to take the stick up its ass and put it somewhere else. Today is the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech "I have a dream." It's about damn time we make progress and this battle stops being an uphill battle for those of diverse backgrounds. *irritated in general with people's rights are being handled in the world atm*

I'm sorry that your friend was disrespected like that! I agree, that really doesn't make sense, but everyone has made a lot of valid points.
