With relationships of any kind, with the seeking like people, if there are things within you that you do not like, try to work through them and change them. It will help you find the type of people you are looking to get to. Now I know this sounds like the whole effort thing, but really finding them won't be an effort, it is taking care of you that is. So yeah again there is hope.
I guess the long and the short of this is, don't feel hopeless. There is always hope if you choose to see it, but as with anything else in life you have to see it, and then wish to fix it. It sounds like you are at the point where you are recognizing things you may wish to change about yourself and once you do seek to break those habits then the other items will begin to fall into place without you doing a thing about them. So yeah, don't feel hopeless. As long as you are alive and breathing there is always hope to be had.
im not versed with addiction but I have my addiction to SI so it's kind of similar to a certain degree...
first thing acknowledgement and second what is the next course of action.
The day u will fall in love with yourself for healing is when u will begin to invite people who will love u for u...right now, u have a lot of emotional situations to deal with.
I hope that u find a therapist and start attending NA and AA meetings and find a good sponsor to help and guide u thru this process. It's a big step towards self recovery and I hope that u do it for yourself as well as your close friends and family around u.
When i was going thru my depression and PTSD triggers I realized that I was attracting people who were equally depressed and wanted to bring me down or not listen to me...so I know what u mean in your message.
please take care of U first. u are important and then others come in the picture.
