My mom went through the same thing. She kept trying different liquids at different temps. She can't do cold, that means anything refrigerated. She also used her protein mix to mask a lot of things. Soups were a help too. Hope things improve, from examples I've seen, time is the biggest friend you'll have. Stay encouraged!

My tastebuds changed as well. There are still things two years later that just don't taste good to me anymore. But I am fine with that.

As for your antidepressant--is there a liquid form of it that you can buy. I was on an antidepressant when I had my surgery and was able to buy it in liquid form with cherry flavoring. You might want to check into that.

As for the gurgling sounds, I still get them but I just laugh about them. My husband and I have a good laugh when it happens and just go on. This is a small price to pay for the benefits of this surgery.

Good luck in the future. It will get better as time goes on. It actually shouldn't be long until you no longer have to crush your medications. I don't remember at what point that was for me.

I too am 6 weeks and 3 days out as of today.. I really struggled with my meds and getting them all down.. I also struggled with fluids.. try half juice half water.. but it has to be really cold for me.. I also do better with hot fluids... luke warm fluids make me want to vomit.. and I too get the gurgeling sounds.. Here is how I look at it.. things could be way worse..I ended up on liquids for a full month because my incisions inside were/are ulcerated.. and even that is minimal comparred to what could happen to me.. we will get through this.. one day..one week.. one month at a time... I too have had those feelings and even voiced them to my husband. His comment to me was.. we made this decision together lets just try different ways and different things to deal with it.. it is worth it just try to keep pushing forward.. Im sorry your having a rough time.. hang in there.

Im 6weeks post op and I have to take my meds too. I just stick with yogurt or pudding...its better than being depressed. How much have you lost? I went from 274-239 lbs. I feel like I should be down more weight than I am.

I found that by four weeks out I no longer needed to crush my medications. I just drink them down with something warm, and have had no trouble doing it. Good luck, and don't be afraid to give it a try.

I dont feel like I am losing enough either... I was 262 to begin with and now 7 weeks later I am 225.6. Clothes are fitting differently and I feel better than I did most days early on in my post-op. But, am I on the right track?? I take a few different meds, I found that if I spread them out during the day it helps. And I love the paypaya tableys, i feel like they help when even Zofran wont.

But why are you cruching the Zoloft? I take prozac in a capsule and my surgeon tolg me to just take one pill at a time. Our pouches can handle the pill especially at 10 weeks out. Look at the fact that you are taking other vitamins in pill form.

wow, i'm glad I came across information about taking meds. I am worried I take so many of them...

I had to stop taking my antidepressant because it makes me sick some days I feel like I really need it and other days I don't even notice. Also everything starts to get a little easier over time I am 4 months post op I started at 303lbs and am down to 230lbs it never feels like enough I wish it would come off faster too.

I am 4 mths out and I was able to take my meds with no problems. I say continue to try taking them with different things to see what taste better. I certainly hope things get better for you.

I took mine crushed in a small amount of V8 juice. It seemed to make it the most tolerable. Now that I went through that I will probably never drink V8 again LOL

If you still have your G-tube in, crush your pills, mix it with some liquid and use it to take your meds. Take advantage of it before it comes out. I did.

Prozac comes in liquid. I am only 3wks post and no problems. Down almost 40lbs. Feel blessed

ok guys 8 years out here. take the pill you will be fine. Im still gurgling and hate it. My dr said some people do some dont gurgle. I guess we are the lucky ones lol. Be strong this really is the best thing you could hve ever done for your self. I was 279 now im 140. Hot liquids work best. Never drank coffee till after wls.
