Gastroparesis Community Group

Gastroparesis (Lazy Stomach), also called delayed gastric emptying, is a disorder in which the stomach takes too long to empty its contents. Gastroparesis occurs when the vagus nerve is damaged and the muscles of the stomach and intestines do not work normally. Food then moves slowly or stops moving through the digestive tract.

Just joined the group. I was diagnosed August 2014 & finding gratitude each day can be a struggle but it’s the best tool I have in my tool box. I am currently switching to oral tube feeding food. The first 18 months were the toughest for me and I have participated in three years of research and development opportunities also. Hearing the words “chronic & progressive disease” was really hard to wrap my head around. But somehow, for me, participation in R&D gives me a sense of hope for a cure in the future.

I have an autoimmune marker that was discovered 2 years ago and causes my ganglionic nerve to attack itself.

But all the data in the world doesn’t help me find gratitude when I am “bonding with my toilet”.

Hello. I am new to this group. I am looking for answers, suppprt, information and people like me. I was diagnosed with Achalasia in 2012 and was diagnosed with Gastroparesis about 3 months ago! I am struggling with what to eat and when. I find myself starving cuz I don't want to eat the wrong thing, then get so hungry I end up eating the wrong thing and pay for it later! The constipation is unreal as well as the bloating and daily upset stomach. Is there any help out there?
