Hmmm, cherry tomatoes can have a really high yield and does not take up too much space. Zucchini can be prolific, but it also grows all over the place!

I love Zucchini. What else is good? I love red peppers, cucumbers, and spinach. Are these things hard to grow? As I said, I have a purple thumb! Hugs GB

Cucumbers can take up a lot of room as they are a vine plant. I've never grown spinach, but I have grown swiss chard which is similar. That does not take up too much room.

Spinach likes cooler weather and unlike chard gets bitter when it goes to seed. I usually plant some toward the end of july for a fall crop, then again in august/sept for next spring. I seldom plant more than 10 seeds at a time as I get tired of eating it when it comes in. Chard holds up well in the heat and yields all season.

How often do you plant chard? I live in Los Angeles and it gets into the 100s during the summer months.

Last year was the first time I planted chard. I admired one of my customer's garden and we spent an hour bragging about our gardens. He gave me some seeds for Bright Lights, a chard with red or yellow stalks (the stalks cook down also), I planted 5 seeds in the spring and it held up all summer into the fall. The heat did stress the plant some but it came back. In the fall I transplanted one of the plants into my cold frame and was able to harvest some greens into the winter. It didn't grow at all during mid-winter but sprang to life in the spring. Our weather in PA is cooler than LA's but give it a try and let us know how it did.

Joyholy, you talking about your garden is making me hungry, except for the dog part.

Cucumbers Don't take up a lot of room , if you grow the pickling ones, and Vine them up on a trillius or fence , I grew a row ,8 foot long, it yielded over 177 organic cucks !!!

Cayenne pepper plants: I had six plants last summer 2020 they yielded hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of peppers! Six plants all in one container that was probably a foot and a half by 2 ft
