A fall garden sounds great. I love carrots. I may do some. That's good to know about the light frost. It's interesting how the weather can effect the flavor of food.
My blueberries this year were very tart. Usually are quite sweet.

I have cut way back on my gardening because it's difficult for me to keep up with. I live in zone 7.

I started some chard, lettuce, and kale inside but it got very leggy. They germinated quickly but the higher temperature made them spring up too fast. I'll start some in the garden but will have to shade them a little until the night time temperatures cool down. I let my potato patch fallow this year and put them in my main garden so things are a little crowded. I started digging some potatoes to get room for my fall garden, but they aren't quite ready and wouldn't store so well, but they are very good anyway. I eat mine with olive oil and salt instead of butter. I have enough room for my carrots so they are going in tomorrow, a little late but we'll see.

Blueberries, umh. Did you ever eat them with rhubarb?

You know your gardening. I haven't grown potatoes but my dad use to grow them among other things. Nothing like digging up your own potatoes. Getting in the dirt is good for us.
Eating potatoes with salt and Olive oil is a healthy and tasty alternative to the usual butter.

I have not eaten rhubarb and blueberries together. I have not grown rhubarb either. I'm not a fan of it. My mom use to grow rhubarb and then cook it, either stewed it or make rhubarb pie. I didn't like it much. It is an interesting plant though and I like the look of it. Long pink stalks with those huge leaves. The cat use to lay under it for shade in the summer.

Potatoes, When my girls were little, I would dig up the potatoes and their job was to gather the potatoes. I can see them in their bear feet wiggling their toes in the clumps of dirt waiting for the potatoes to roll off the shovel. We'd have these deep discussions about the life of worms or ants living in tunnels in the dirt going about their lives as if we didn't matter. Maybe we were unimportant after all. Yes, getting in the dirt is good for us.
