I am trying to think of a small bush, shrub, or tree to plant either this year or next. I want something that doesn't get very big because I want to plant it in the middle of a flower bed to cover up an old well. I want something eye-catching and colorful.
I cook with bay all the time. Never thought of growing it. I'm wanting to grow other herbs in that bed. Good idea. Idk if it is colorful enough but growing it would be good. I plan to get sage and African basil too.
This is interesting about Bay.
Dried Bay leaves can be sprinkled with other deterrent herbs in the garden as a natural insecticide dust. For example, Bay leaves, cayenne pepper, tansy and peppermint make a great combination to keep ‘bad bugs’ out of the vegie patch
