Irises are a great perrenial to get started growing at your home. They come in a variety of colors and the foilage makes a great natural border. I have them along my driveway.
I planted some more Iris bulbs last night. For some reason, most of my purple ones have died out, so now I have mostly a small variety of light yellow. The bearded kind. I have several of the dark purple Japanese irises which look kinda like lillies. I have one very large bearded Iris which is kinda red/peach/gold/plum all mixed together. Hard to describe.
Yesterday I planted some bearded Iris bulbs called sea... something. They are bright medium blue, like a cerulean. I also planted some very dark purple bearded ones, and some where the beard was almost black and the top was lavender. I think one was called stormy night.
Here where I live, people don't call them irises. They call them flags. What do y'all call them? What kind do you have and where do you grow them? Do you grow them with any other flowers?
