Friends til the end Community Group
A group for those of us here who get more from our friendships than from the available discussion groups. A place to be accepted and appreciated for who we are. Somewhere to always feel safe and know that especially on the bad days we are here for each other .A place for encouragement and love.
I was best friends with this girl for 5 years. She called me her "sister" because we were that close. We had a falling out, I made mistakes and she did as well. Yet, instead of putting effort into working on our friendship, her effort was placed into building other new friendships.
She denied that she wasn't putting effort into working on our friendship but when you've been best friends with someone for that long, you know when their heart is in something and it was clear that hers was not. She denied that she was placing more effort into building other new friendships. I told her I felt like I was being replaced by another girl, who she began to spend more time with, but she denied it. We are no longer friends anymore, and sure enough, her and the girl that I felt that she was replacing me with are now "sisters" and "best friends forever".
How do you get over someone, who was your best friend, that stops caring about your friendship & replaces you with someone else? She never looked back, she never attempted to contact me since & life is great for her right now.
It hurts so much & I can't understand why she is not hurt or doesn't miss me. How can you completely walk away from someone like that. It's been 2 years and she hasn't looked back.
She is in her mid 20's right now. We both made mistakes in our friendship. But to walk away from a friendship, I think, is just on a completely different level in my opinion.
Do you think she'll ever regret walking away from me? Will she ever understand how she has hurt me? I really can't understand how you can drop someone and replace them with someone else when both of you were that close to each other? To add to that, she fails to demonstrate any remorse for her actions.

I can feel the hurt in your words and can relate to how you're feeling. Many of us have lost friends who were like sisters and most of us are still trying to understand how the friendship meant so little. My advice is to try to focus on the friends who are there in your life. In my case I had to accept that the person I called friend had never really been one at all. It hurts to just be tossed aside and you start questioning yourself and the motives of others. You were a good friend. One who knew that friendships require work from both people to flourish. You did all that you could to save the friendship. One day she will regret the things she's done. Some people just don't think. We aren't promised tomorrow so treating each other respectfully is important. With too many people all they are concerned with is themselves. Sorry this happened and I hope you can find the strength to rise above it. You are a good person and friend.
