All depends on where we are, and who we are chatting with, here in DS we started this group to avoid the conflict that use to be rife on the 'boards'!
Because DS is designed for support, we (Ftte) avoid anything that could have the slightest chance of causing someone who is already hurting badly to hurt even more>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ya get what we mean???

There certainly are times & places were debate is VERY appropriate.................JUST not here EVER !!

Ftte I agree with you 100%about the group .,But rest assured should it be here or anywhere else I would not stand by and let anyone bash Lesa or Carol ,they have done a lot for this group and I would stand up for them anytime .Guess you might say a little of Bossy Mom rubbed off on me ...Trust me I have bit my tongue several times the past few days ...

Debbie, I understand fully, I have lost some blood from biting my own tongue recently, but I know in my ♥of ♥s that Ftte is right............. we saw on the boards how quickly things can blow up and become WAR on a grand scale :(!
But do know, it is loyalty like yours that keep Sis & I able bite our tongues when that is what wisdom dictates!

I have always loved the welcoming safety of this group and one or two of the others. Thanks for keeping it a safe and happy place to share, and feel welcome.

I wouldn't say I get a kick out of provoking people but I do like to engage in debate. It is odd how often debates can escalate to arguments though. Only way I would steer clear of a touchy subject would be if it is like an issue within my family that I know could be fractious because my family is quite dysfunctional in how it handles certain matters as a whole and my whole life there have always been people holding grudges and not speaking to people and I don't ever want to be the cause of another extended grudge match like one of those. But so called taboo topics like politics and religion and sports, oh yeah, I'll speak my mind, not that you guys haven't already seen that on here!

We love discussions here! Those are heallthy and there are always many answers to the very same question. The answer that you give may be the piece of advice that really helps someone else. The more opinions the more diversity and that's great. it keeps the group interesting

When I founded friends we wanted to make it a safe place where everyone would feel protected and that they mattered. The main board I belonged to had turned into a battleground. There were a lot of posts that were made just to hurt someone else. People were called names. There was one proclaiming that I was Evil...all because I posted games that we all played late at night. I left that group and started Friends so that we'd have a safe place to come to.

You will always find respect, encouragement, and love here. There's always someone here to listen and yes it's an ideal place for discussions and debates.

Now to answer the question.LOL! I personally don't like to provoke people. I'm the peacemaker of my family most of the time. I shy away from drama and contoversy. But as a classic Virgo I love a good debate!
