Gidday Freewriters Group. I haven't been on in months due to technical problems which nearly drove me around the twist but it's all sorted and here I am. I have missed you. 2011 has come to a close and here we are in 2012. I am hopeful of a very good year. Last year, I:
•Survived a serious and scarey family issue and learned that I have the courage to do so again - if reluctantly!.
•Survived some problems in AA. Started with a new AA sponsor between Xmas and New Year - a long distance one as there are no options for one where I live. But this woman was my very first sponsor nearly 13 years ago whern I first got sober and is as wonderful now as she was then. We did our first 10th Step Inventory today on the phone with her looking at my inventory on her screen via email. It was fantastic. Developed friendships in AA - a longstanding phone one, a fantastic email one which developed through DS and real live ones!!. Have started a brand new AA Womens Meeting inb this town to start on Saturday 28th Jan. So I learned I need to continue to build and work on my AA journey and I am well rewarded for that - not just staying sober, but much more.
•Survived my psychiatrist and my GP, who definitely come up short - no choice to change in regional Victoria. I at least tried to learn acceptance that some physicians aren;t what they're cracked up to be - even if your very life ios in their hands.
•Through an excellent sleep specialist started on an excellent CPAP machine that has changed everything. I learned that sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel isn;t always a locomotive!! Positive change can come throughn unexpectedly.
•Started going down on one of my high octane psych drugs and that will bea good thing. Other med changes too. Continuous learning that I will be on the meds merry go round forever and that I need to accept that - I'm not in accptance yet - it's an horrific journey.
•Worked with my excellent psychologist - I can't wait until our appt 2 Feb to start our therapeutic journey for 2012. Learnt that there are some clinicians where I feel I've hit the jackpot.
•Have written and edited a 50,000 word biography – in part due to the CPAP. I haven’t achieved anything like that since I stopped work 5 years ago, in fact longer than that – I wasn’t functioning or producing anywhere near what I had done I my past study and career, for a long time before I got sacked. I am going to start trying for publication soon. But my first priorities were rehab and expressing my creativity, which I have done. WOW, have I learned that there is HOPE. I thought I had lost the capacity to do anything anymore - forever. It's given me so much hope for the future.
•Started researching a sci-fi book I’d like to write. This is very bold of me, but it's come from writing the other book.
I'm looking forward to continuing on with all this this year.
I'd love to hear from you!!
