I was working for a courrier service company. I drove about 250 miles a day on an inter-office mail route. I did fairly well, with a few bumps in the road, and sometimes some help fixing boo-boos from a good friend, Lee, who also worked for the same company. That's how we met. Several years ago, I was hitting bottom. I worked the courrier job (a couple of different ones) for about 2 years before I finally caved and succombed to bipolar disorder as well as other physical and mental health problems.
It only took me 3 1/2 years to get the SSI that I needed. And to top that off, I figured out, consequently, that if I had known and allowed to be discovered what lurked within my brain, I could have been on SSI from the get-go and never would have had to struggle the way I did. However, now I am all the stronger for it. And, however, being that strong is now biting me in the butt because I still cannot access my deepest conflicts due to severe trust issues and paralyzing fear ot wha'ts in there. I don't even know myself!!
Now I am glad to be where I am today; got on SSI, have my own low-income apartment (which is a really nice place) and, still have most of my belongings I have collected over the years, that are meaningful to me. And now, I know changes are just around the bend in the road. I hope they are good ones, because i'm getting really tired of the negative suprprises.
Here's to a New Year, a new start, and a new perspective on things!!
