Republican State Senator Kerry Roberts actually believes this...""The very founding of our nation — the very form of government that we have today — was put forth by men of faith, based on their faith, based on what they read in Holy Scripture," he said." Umm, nope. Nope, nope, nope.
"Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery also released a statement last year that said acknowledgement of the Bible as the official state book would violate the First and Third Amendments of the Constitution for giving preference to a religious institution." Yes, yes, yes. Would violate 1st and 3rd Amendments.
Most recently, Tennessee designated an official state rifle, the M82 sniper rifle.
Ignorance runs rampant in the world. They claim to have read the "holy bible" and uphold a 2,000 year old text that makes no sense at all and is holier than swiss cheese in it's stories.....and yet is held in the highest regards of the end all of everything!
My mantra is, "ya just cant' change stupid/ignorance or crazy no matter how hard you try!"
also
"Don't fight with someone that is crazy or stupid.....they will pull you down to their level and beat you with experience every time!" (or something like that).
I'm just gonna get outta their way and let em at it among themselves. Popcorn and a front row seat???? LOL...Sweet!!!!
Most people don't even know the names of all 50 states, and are lucky if they know their own state capitol (or know the difference between a capitol and capital)...
I don't really care what their state bird, tree, fish, book, sport, or venereal disease is...
Even my kids, who I think are pretty smart, and go to a decent school district...didn't know how our state government worked.
My daughter's class was going to go to a Harrisburg Senator's baseball game. I made her write a letter to a Senator before I'd sign the permission slip. I gave her the choice of a state senator or federal senator, and explained the difference. (She also had the choice of writing me a paper explaining the branches of federal and state governments.) She picked a state senator and got a nice letter back...that may have actually been written by the senator themselves...maybe not...but it was personalized to what my daughter wrote, so at least it wasn't a form letter.

And when a family member was moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico another person asked them - you will no longer live in the United States?!?!
Sigh...
