Has anyone ever had or cooked plantains? They're really cheap and tasty.
I usually buy the ones that are kinda green. I fry them, don't use much oil or spray. They taste like French fries.
Last time I made them they were overripe and the taste was different but still good.
I usually just make them as a side.
What about you guys?

when I lived on Guam I learned about plantains....they grew them there....I ate them mostly like banana....but they could be cooked too....they heat up nicely....they are little starchy raw....

Hi Ghostwolf! My family has roots in Jamaica, Honduras and Cuba so yes we eat Plantains all the time. The green ones are less sweet and taste more like french fries they taste better with a little salt on them after they are fried and the oil is patted off of them with a paper towel. I like the yellow ones that are sweeter but still firm. I don't like when they are over ripe then not only are they too sweet but they don't fry well and they absorb all the oil when you try to fry them. Where I live Super Walmart sells Plantains green or yellow ones for only 33 cents each. Sometimes we fry plantains and make a breakfast sandwich with them some people like just fried plantains with white bread. Some people like to have a fried plantain sandwich with a fried egg and bacon also on toast some people butter the toast a little. It is quite tasty and a twist on an American classic fried egg and bacon sandwich on toast. Some times we cook up sausage or bacon, fried plantain, and fried bread fruit or fried bami or fried dumplings or festival along with the plantain and serve it with ackee and salt fish. It may sound weird to someone who has never had these foods before but I assure you it is very good. Plantain can also be boiled and cooked in soup. Island soup is very filing and a lot of ingredients go into it but it is a meal.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz
