Fried Bologna

I noticed some people mentioned fried bologna on a post on the depression group. I never had this before. Do you just fry it up plain??

Yes, just fry it up plain.

If you wanted to pick up bologna from a deli, it's even better when it's extra thick slices. I eat it on bread with mayo, so good!

My old college roommate used to do this. He used the Oscar Meyer products, and as they fried up the center bulged such that is looked like a really bad Mexican Sombrero.

But he really loved them, I suspect that his mom used to make them for him when he was a kid.

you can avoid the bad mexican sombrero by cutting with the spatula into the bologna as it cooks...if you cut it in half it ends up eye shaped....if you just cut part way it will pull apart and has middle that is separated but still in the shape of eye in some sense.... I eat it with mustard and on toasted rye is great...

Yes, but you have to cut slits in it in order for it not to bubble. It doesn't matter if it does bubble but cooks more evenly. I fry hot dogs to. Not a lot of grease, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan, they taste more grilled that way to me. I hate a boiled hotdog.
