My salt in salt shaker is extremely old. It seems to take more salt to get
flavor I used to use less for. Can this be? Should I buy a new container
of salt?

Salt is a very stable chemical compound. It does not deteriorate if kept dry. Most regular salt comes from crystal formations underground that are very old. It's more likely that your taste buds have changed.
