My friend suggested this to my the first time things my wife and I separated. Even bought the movie Fireproof for me. We got to talking yesterday and I was asked if I ever watched it. I admitted I hadn't... That piece of me resisting God and his help.
I said it was at the house and I would watch it today. Well I couldnt find it, so I rented it and watched it today while I was at the house waiting for my kids to come home for their last day of school.
My wife comes home at 10:45 for lunch, I had just finished watching it. I have been beating my head trying to figure out how to save our marriage (after I filed for divorce). I asked her to consider just requesting a 60 day postphonement with the courts to see if we can make this work. I as I talked to her, I was able to touch her with out rejection. I was able to run my fingers though her hair. I was able to touch her face, I was able to hug and kiss her.
She did not answer with words, but I feel hope. Reading the steps of the 40 day challenge... have to be modified because we don't live together anylonger. But I took the piece of advice for day 2, do someting unexpected. I cleaned the house. I mowed the lawn. I bought 6 roses. (Hey $ is tight)...
I dont expect my work to fix anything today. But I can hope with the openess conversation earlier that God is trying to save us. If I am able to keep going, Maybe just maybe It will work.
I love the enthusiasm you have. I think you will get some results by using the program. Something else I would like to recommend is learning what your spouses love language is. Everyone has one. There is a great book (don't worry, it's a quick read) by Gary Chapman called The five love languages: The secret to Love that lasts. I highly recommend it. It is possible you might be doing things for your wife, that to you communicate love, but if it's not her love language, she may not be picking up on it.
Thanks Misred, We actually read that book years ago. We are very different in what we need, but we have done our best and I think we actually do a fairly good job of working on this.
More than anything I have just been angry. I am learning that I what I thought I was angry with is not it, but I am still working to identify the true source. Seems to be something buried deep inside of me that I will hopefully locate. Hoping church will help with this (talking to pastor tonight) and then also with therapy.
This 2 minute video explains it: https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-mozilla-002&hsimp=yhs-002&hspart=mozilla&p=jay+shetty+before+you+break+up+watch+this#id=1&vid=fc748a4dda6081785a1e91f271896c0c&action=click

So we'll see.
