I have been on Citalapram now for 3 years ,but am now comung of over the next 2 weeks in order to start a new one.Its called Cym something lol.

I know how you feel. I've been on almost every anti-depressant in the book and nothing had helped me. I've tried different combination and everything, but I'm still suffering with the Fibro and depression.

I haven't tried Savella yet. I'm kind of scared to, I am very sensitive to side effects.
But, I do know some have found it helpful.

You might want to try trazadone and or amitriptiline combination as they help sleep thus less pain. hugs marilyn These are older meds with less side effects.

Just read your post, and I'm on Effexor XR. I used to be on just plain Effexor, but I had asked the Dr. about the XR, and she put me on it, and it seems to work.

I was on celexa- completely killed my libido- but I was sleeping SO good- and waking up early full of energy- pain was better too-
Now, I'm on Lyrica- it's only been a week- and every day is different- couple of days had no pain, couple of days was so tired I could barely function, this week had pain in my arm I never had before, it has given me intermittant headaches and shooting pains in my head- BUT- I can THINK again, and suddenly I have the energy of a 10 year old and I'm just so UP!!- like it even made me more outgoing, I can't explain it- I feel joyous and like I want to jump around- for no reason- weird- but it beats looking at the cold hard floor in my classroom and thinking I could take a nap there!!! Only time will tell if this is a good thing for me- and I always have to make sure the good outweighs the bad-PLUS- do ONE thing at a time so you KNOW whethere it's the thing that is hurting or helping!!!
I was on Elavil years ago- it was okay too- dry mouth and no sex drive though.

yeah, no kidding fibonae! I have to force myself so my poor hubby doesn't go insane. It's been like this for so long I've given up on it ever being different another source of depression. I have to say though, Cymbalta is wicked stuff. They don't tell you when you go on it that IF you want to get off it you may NOT be able to! Like me! I went through HELL and weaned VERY slowly over two weeks - zapping feelingsin my head and the worst major depressive episode almost brought me to emergencey so I just gave up and started taking it again. I wanted to try Savella but now I'm STUCK ON cymbalta and it's really really expensive. I think the company should be sued! I need to at least report it tothe FDA! Be careful!!

Jules, sorry to here about Cymbalta, it never worked for me, just added on more side effects. So i didn't have any problems going off it. Then I was put on Savella, it worked for a while then i went off it cause i ran out of it. Had to wait for insurance to approve it. once i was approved, started taking it and then wham it started giving me strange mood swings. Everyone thought that it was a good idea for me to be wean off the stuff. But there is alot of people taking savella and its working for them. it was nice chatting with ya! take- care i'm here if u ever wnt to talk. Please call me nae' all my friends do. hugs nae'

I'm on Cymbalta and Lyrica plus Methotrexate for the R.A. I did wean off successfully from Cymbalta with no problems but the doc wanted me back on it, so I'm following orders for now. I don't know if the drugs are helping or not because like all of you I'm sure, I have good days and bad days and don't know why there is a difference. I use cyclobenzaprine to help me relax in the evenings. My R.A. doc started me on Melatonin supplement and if I have a feeling I'm going to have a rough time getting to sleep I take one of those. That seems to help. He also had me taking Trazadone every third night for sleep but I felt I didn't need it that much and only take it now if I've had a night or two of bad sleep and want a little extra help to break the cycle. I am a lucky one in that I rarepy seem to get bad reactions to any meds no matter what they've been over the years. Some that might knock others out don't phase me like that. I feel for you all who have bad reactions.

Is there any 'news' out there that shows anybody is looking more into the actual cause of Fibro and medicines that actually target the cause so that we don't have to just be fed these cocktails of various medicines to see if they work for us? Thankfully my rheumatologist believes totally in Fibro and keeps working to get my 'cocktail' as good as it can be. For the longest time I had the feeling that my internist wasn't quite sold on it all but he now goes along fully with what the other doc says. Times are changing - slowly. Patience isn't one of my virtues tho. :-)

Good Morning Carol, I here a lot of stories, but as far as i know they haven't yet. Or if they had u would probably have to pay and find out the answer! If i had the answer i would let everyone know, if i knew something that would help other i would tell. I would not ask for a dime! if they wanted to give donations that would be supper dupper, if no that's okay too! Sorry but that is how i feel, and those stupid fibro commercil on lyrica and cymbalta i could just scream, you can tell that they are fake! I remember also being put on Trazodone to help me sleep and it worked very well but it put 30 pounds on me very quick. That was the only drawback. I never could really lose it through the years. Back and forth with the weight issue ever since.

Wow, it's so nice to see some unfamiliar names participating! Way to go group! Lots of good info on different approaches to the same problem too...

I take amitriptyline at night time, which i think is an antidepressant, doc prescribed it to help me sleep better, hoping it would help my pain....
