Family Scapegoats Community Group
This is a Group for discussing Scapegoating. The Scapegoat is often the family member who tells or acts out the truth ("the Truth Teller") regarding the family's dysfunction that no one else is prepared to acknowledge or talk about. It is this truth telling that makes them the target for carrying the blame for all the family's problems. If you are the Scapegoat...
This showed very obvious and loud favoritism, but even if the put downs are said in a more subtle or subliminal way, it's just as bad, and harder to prove because others don't pick up on sideways jabs as much.

Thinking about it, our families are skilled, practiced, and excellent at what they do!
The systematic abuse we've all gone through on this forum makes me honestly believe that some of our family members have a similar personality profile as a series killer. Not that they'd go that far obviously, but some traits are alike, for example: the pleasure in someone else's pain, and zero empathy.
Sometimes I wish I had a fly on the wall video of examples of how horrendously nasty they've been, then again maybe not, reliving it in my head is bad enough.
Part of the scapegoat family dynamic is often pretending to the outside world that everything is normal, nothing to see here, and treating one person like crap but seldom publicly (at least not obviously) so you're right, most families wouldn't allow outsiders to see them so blatantly in the wrong this way.
Although, my family have publicly shamed me countless times, but it was mostly done in such a way that all people would notice is me 'crying, over-reacting, and shouting out of nowhere', and the family all looking like butter wouldn't melt. But somehow they'd still manage to shoot me snarky, haughty, and evil sneering looks without anyone noticing. Very skilled, argh.
I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it must have been on you Epic, enduring sixty years of scapegoating! You're obviously very strong, and have handled it amazingly. And it is kind of surprising that when you finally called your family out on their vile behaviour, that they didn't get all defensive. Unsurprising it's caused a rift though, as in their sick view you've changed the status quo, maybe they now pick on one another, or start fights with their own shadows! People like that have to release their hatred onto someone!
In my experience, people see what they want to see, hence my thread about my supposed allies siding with my family instead of supporting me, and even those who don't know me, choosing to mix with my family but avoid me for no reason. Mud sticks, and most people (sheeple!) will just do the cop out thing and side with the majority.
In this video it was just so lovely and refreshing to see most people step in and do the right thing. Yes if more people were proactive about it, the world would be a better place.
