But the Lord will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as His special people once again. (Again, this sounds like the tribulation period). Those that captured Israel will themselves be captured, and Israel will rule over its enemies. The next part I believe is talking about Satan. The shining star, the son of the morning has fallen from heaven and thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. He spoke prideful statements about wanting to preside on the mountains of the gods and climbing to the highest heavens to be like the Most High. Everyone will ask, “Is this the one that shook the earth, destroyed the world, and made it into a wasteland?” But Satan’s fate is predicted, he will descend to the pit. God will rise against Babylon and destroy its children’s children. God will break the Assyrians, His people will no longer be slaves.
Chapter 15:
This message comes concerning Moab. The bravest warriors of Moab will cry out in utter terror, they will be helpless with fear. Nothing green remains, the stream near Dibon runs red with blood. Lions will hunt down the survivors.
Chapter 16:
The woman of Moab are left like helpless birds. God will establish on of David’s descendants as king. He will rule with mercy and truth. Moab’s boasting has disappeared. Gone is the gladness and joy of the harvest. There will be no singing in vineyards, no more happy shouts. From Moab’s great population, only a few of its people will be left alive.
Chapter 17:
The message came to Isaiah concerning Damascus. He was told the city would disappear and become a heap of ruins. Its royal power would end, and Israel’s glory would grow dim. Only a few people would be left, like stray olives left on a tree after a harvest. Then at last they will look to their creator, the Holy One of Israel. They will no longer look to their idols for help. In the evening, Israel awaits terror, but by dawn its enemies are dead. That was a just reward for those that plundered them, and a fitting end for those that were destroying them.
