There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord . His delight is in the fear of the Lord , And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
It seems we saw basically the same things in chapter 11. Here are my notes for 11 and 12:
Chapter 11:
Out of the stump of Daniel’s family will grow a shoot, and a new branch bearing fruit form the old root. He will delight in obeying the LORD. He will give justice to the poor. The conditions of the earth will change and wolves and lambs will live together in peace. Babies will play safely near the hole of a cobra, and the earth will be filled with people that know the LORD. God will reach out His hand again to bring home the remnant. The jealousy between Israel and Judah will end, and they will join forces. God will make a highway for the remnant coming from Assyria.
Chapter 12:
In that day people will sing and praise God, saying, “God has come to save me, I will trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord is my strength, He has given us victory.” Let all the people of Jerusalem shout His praise with joy.
