Empty Nest Syndrome Community Group
a group for people suffering from feelings of sadness, lonliness, grief and loss after children leave the home.
I am a father of a 16 year old daughter who lost his wife during her birth. Focusing on my daughter and caring for her was the only thing that got me through that time and now I am afraid I may be a bit depend Ant on her as a companion in life. I know she is still young but all she talks about is wanting to turn 18 and get her own place. Also I now find myself home alone a lot more as she being a normal teenager is now spending a lot more time with her friends. I get so depressed thinking of when she was little how she loved to be with me and wish I could have that time back again. Plus know that departure is coming I know wish more than ever that I had a significant other to help me deal with this.
You have to be sooo proud of yourself that you have brought her up alone but like me you have to start your own life again and I haven't got the answers to that right now as I'm in that boat and I'm terrified and depressed I'm alone but uou have two years still of your wonderful daughter at home so please please think about it while she's there as it will distroy u if you are still feeling like this when she eventually leaves home,
My daughter has gone to uni and I'm now realising how much I lived my whole life for her and being there for her,but you have realised it now and have time to start thinking about what you want to do-do you work? Friends? Hobbies??
