I just recently learned about emotional deprivation disorder and I learned it explained a lot about who I am. I now know why I don't feel I can go to anyone for emotional support and why I feel I have to take care of myself and can't lean on anyone else now. I'm going to reflect on my childhood more to gain a better understanding of myself and this disorder.
I just viewed your post which was dated 1/9/2021. I never realized that there was such a disorder and I appreciate now knowing that this may be what I have lived with my entire childhood and carried over to adulthood. I will certainly bring this disorder up at my next therapy session with my psychiatrist. I just learned that I have been suffering from "untreated" childhood depression and it has spilled over into my adult life. Are you aware of online support groups focusing on this disorder or on daughters who were emotionally abused by their Mothers?
