Seems like all the emotions of PTSD are increased after a session. Am having anger flashes over small annoyances. One stray comment by someone turns into a big to do. having to use my CBT tools over time. But, the good is more intense and offers hope of some sort of even life. I had a massage the next day and really felt like I could get on with things. Feel more motivated at times. And you?
I am seeing that after my last session I have felf alot of feelings!! Some I didnt have words for!! Anger, saddness, name it I felt it!! I do find that after each session I feel worn out!! I am now talking about my past which I never done before now!! I honestly feel EMDR is helping me!!!
It has been a number of years since I as involved in EMDR therapy but I do remember the strong feelings I felt. I was not one to show anger much before therapy but would blow up and not realy know why sometimes. Or I would just break down and cry and cry for no apparent reason. I hopped out of my car once in the grocery store parking lot and was about to whip this ladies ass because she took the parking place I had been waiting on. I realy wondered if I was going nuts. My experience may not be anyone else's experience but just be aware that feeling may come. Things got better and it was worth the pain. I am now able to think about and talk about my trama situations without feeling strong feelings or going into a bad depression.
I hope it works as well for ya'll.
I got an hr left before my 1st appt and I am really nervous. Okiegirl, I have always been that way..don't really show anger, but one thing just tops it off and I feel like I wanna punch the wall. I have before. Neve connected anything, but now it is all starting to make sense. Thanks for creating this support forum. We all have different traumas and severity of issues, but I am pretty sure we are all looking for a sense of normalcy. My Dr says "Stop saying it SHOULD be something else. It is what it is" ( Aghh!) still don't know how to grasp that theory. I will see how it goes in just a bit.
YES! Today I had a session and am seeing some improvement that I didn't think was possible. As long as I just know that things will be up and down a bit, I can ride them out and not think that any one of them is forever. "It came to pass." as some say. Just think for every up and down there are two evens. Am trying to emphasize those and not make a focus of an up or a down. Leaves me feeling like all in all I had an even day, though at this moment, I've been down. So in my fuzzy math, there is statistically more normalcy than we give a day credit for. hmmm
I hope it works as well for ya'll.
