My first therapist had me hold onto paddles (one in each hand) They pulsed simultaneously but she controlled the speed of how quickly or slowly they pulsed. This was her method of bilateral stimulation. It didn't seem to do me any good. I also didn't feel secure being vulnerable with her because she asked too many questions.
I just started with a new therapist via video conference and last Monday was the first session with him since intake. I have no real relationship with this therapist but it appears I feel more comfortable with him. The memories are still very difficult to bring forward as they tend to block when I attempt to choose one to work on. His way of bilateral stimulation is to watch this dot move from left to right and then from right to left across the screen. It didn't seem to do much as it happened. But the next three days were miserable. I couldn't do anything but sleep, my body was weary and memories that I haven't recalled in quite some time began to resurface.
