I finally did my first session. The point was to focus on something mildly disturbing, and all this other stuff surfaced. I felt like I was hyperventilating at one point and then like I was having a panic attack. My Dr was very aware and gave me plenty of time to breathe and relax before startning again. It was like mothing I have ever experienced, and I felt a lot of fear throughout. I was alao very nauseous and my knees felt weak, even though I was sitting, but I got through it.I have been pretty numb all day. Just really exhausted. I have my next appt next week and he told me to call him if I needed to talk to him and leave a message and he would call me if I needed him too. I am just glad it is over for now.

This seems to be a normal reaction. It will get easier. Be good to your self afterwards. I think it is a good idea to have someone who knows you are going through therapy and that is available if you need them to talk or just be there. Good luck.

If I may ask, do any of you feel numb for a while? I have felt like that all day, not much emotion. Things that usually make me upset kind of rolled off of me today. I am not complaining, just weird. I feel a lump in my throat but not at anything specific, and I haven't cried. I am very happy at the fact I didn't break down though. That is good.

I have had 2 really good days. I know i have a long way to go, but I actually enjoyed myself so much today. I felt blessed to be with my family. i felt tense at times and sad for moments, but more positive outlook on things. First of all with God's help, but I really think the EMDR helped me a bit. Thanks for the info and support

! my3blessings, I am so happy that you got a session done. For me, it has been all those things for me but overall very positive even though it is exhausting beyond measure sometimes. It's weird to me and illogical how something like that works. Like you, I just thank God for some relief and more hope it has brought to me. Hugs to you. That's good to hear. I have called my therpist after some of the sessions just to check my thinking and to stop if I started spinning. Best regards, Betty

Tomorrow is another session. I am pretty cool these days, with an occasional meltdown now and then. I know it has to be done, but do I need to talk about the things that I would rather not remember? The 1st session I heard things come out I wasn't aware of. It is making me a little nervous about other thoughts I have been having. Is it normal to be so nervous the night before? I so want to cancel, but I know it;s just my nerves.
