Hey guys. I've always had a weird relationship with food. I always was a skinny/average girl but for as long as i remember I eat a lot, i eat up to the point where I know im no longer hungry but i keep looking for snacks and fats. I force myself to eat fattening things and then i feel horrible about it, only for me to cheer myself up with more food. Then I go into a spiral and I restrict myself so hard, i get really strict with intermittent fasting, and I thought I was just trying to be more healthy but it wasn't until this week that i realized i have a problem. I was standing in the kitchen fighting an urge to eat during my fast, and I slapped my own face so that I wouldn't. I had never experienced something like that. I literally slapped my face, hard. I did that so that I can punish myself for wanting to eat. I dont know what to do and I feel like i cant talk to anyone i know about this. I'm so ashamed of myself, not just for slapping myself, but for not having any control when it comes to food.
Eating disorders occur because of a control problem something, usually subconsciously, we're unable to control so we control what, when, how, we eat. The problem is that then we really stop having control of that too. It's so complex and unfair. I would suggest thinking of ways you can reach out for help from those around you.
