Hi so i have never been open to talking about this because I have always been ashamed of my eating disorder. It started with a restrictive diet then veganism followed by labeling everyday foods as "bad foods that will make you instantly fat" i have been starving binging and purging for 2 years and i need someone who wants to be accountability partners an share food journals im 17 and i need to get rid of this. i get so depressed and uncomfortable with my body and it makes me so sad and i obsess about the way i look and it makes people so mad when i complain.
Long story short: I think I have Anorexia. It started about 6 months ago. My anxiety was bad and I just wanted to be thin and pretty. I lost 50lbs in 3 months and I currently weight 98lbs. I'm going to die. And I'm so scared. But I never thought I could have Anorexia untill my doctor told me I was severely underweight and needed to be hospitalised. How do I get better?
i would see a therapist immediately. Also be open with people around you and you might be surprised. My boyfriend an friends have been a lot of help in supporting me. also Youtube has a lot of knowledge and support
I agree with work in progress.. I think seeing a therapist would be helpful. Also a dietician so they can each you proper eating habits if you can afford it, or if insurance covers it. They would teach you what foods are good, what you need to consume to be healthy, and probably get you started with a food journal. Seeing a dietitian helped me a lot and I only went a few times. As for therapy, it will take more than a few times probably, but it’s well worth it. Do you really think being malnourished and sick and possibly dying is worth an unhealthy perception of what beautiful is? It’s not...no matter what your physical shape looks like you will never be happy with yourself until you are mentally and physically well. You gotta treat yourself right... you only get one body, don’t destroy it.
I’ve noticed that the more I restrict myself, the more I find myself feeling like i am depriving myself, which usually makes me want more than I need. In a way, if I restrict things that are good for me then I am deprived of those nutrients. It’s one thing to cut out junk... but when you cut out good protein (chicken or fish or turkey, etc) or cut out healthy fats (monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats are good for you— nuts/nut butter, avocados, mayo, fatty fish like salmon, etc) or cut out carbs (veggies, whole wheat products, oatmeal, fortified cereals) all of which are ESSENTIAL to functioning, then you ARE restricting yourself... sometimes it will cause you to crash and burn or develop unhealthy patterns such as restricting then binging, or overeating, or starving yourself, or purging... it’s a vicious cycle and it sucks not to have anyone to talk to about it.
