Dysthymic disorder Community Group
Sadness. It is real. If you have Dysthymia, it's a constant state of being. . . It never leaves you. I'd really like to see what reality is like, you know, check out how it feels to NOT be sad all the freaking time. . . This is just mean. I mean come on, somebody . . . God, throw me a bone! I'm a cool guy, I do good things. OK, , , enough of this shit, it...
My questions to anyone in this group willing to answer it is, "What do you expect out of a group of this nature? What do you want from your fellow dysthymics? What needs to happen in order to turn this list into a nuturing web-based environment for you?"
As far as what I would expect from this group, I know people have tried (unsuccessfully) to star threads in the past, but I do appreciate seeing the questions, and the repsonses to what is going on in your lives. Maybe because I can identify at least on some level with most of what is said. Then I can at least take a little wisdom and comfort from responses/advice...
After being diagnosed with this problem I looked it up online. Strange how easy it is to get instant information anytime you want it. Well from what I found the Dr. is right. I don't think the medicine is helping either. Of course I have only been taking it for a week but I think it is making me feel worse. I have two children and the main reason I even went to seek treatment is because of them. I feel a duty to do what I can to make their lives better and I think that my behavior is / has affected them.
It is hard to reach out to others with this as I have become of a introverted person after having this like what seems forever. It is nice to know our little group actually has a site as this seems to be different than the major depression that is out there for a lot of people. I don't have fun at all anymore. I want out of this as I see other people able to go and do things and I envy them having a good time.
I have a very hard time when the rare moment would rear its ugly head and something good would come my way. I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop on me. I have come to hate my birthday as I am afraid someone will do something really nasty and throw a stinking party. I know that may seem strange but every moment of a bunch of people in my house is like torture. I will force myself to be nice but I will be hating every minute of it.
Well just my input. Seems like it turned into a novel.

I'm StillBill and I founded this group for people loke you, so that maybe in some way you can know that you're not alone and there's a lot of us out there . . and in here . . that know what you're going through and man, it isn't fun at all.
But if nothing , you have friends here now, and a lot of us want to stand with you and make life a little bit better . . . at least, that's the plan . . but we're so screwed up, who knows what the hell is around the corner . . . I have a better clue than I used to . . . . so . . . that's not a bad thing . . .
OK then, bye for now, stop by anytime if you want and we can chat or something.
later,
StillBill
