I currently work as a cashier and sometimes people want me to count their change back to them in the old fashioned way (ya know before computers told us how to do everything) and I can't do it. I've been shown over and over again and it just doesn't stick in! I feel like a total idiot! I hate math!
Counting change right on spot is hard,especially if there are other customers waiting.Im not a cashire but,I deal with the similar situation when shopping.I get so flustered with counting the change bec I loose count of one part of the change trying to add it in my head with the rest ex 5 dimes I know equals 50 cents but when trying to add it to each indivisual quarter and nickle together I lose track on each amount to equal(if that kinda makes sense/hard to explain) I usually just hand a cashire a $5,$10,or $20 dollar bill.This way I get no sighing and impatienence from the cashire and other customers in back of me.Don't feel bad,Im guessing were all in the same boat.Im new to the group but so far what I read in some of the posts seem similar to what Ive been experencing when it comes to college math.(I have a post if intrested in the group)
Just look at it this way every one is diffrent/If we were all the same;wore the same clothing,talked the same,
had the same intrests and had the same strengths and weaknesses,and repeated everyday the same way as the first it would be a pretty boring life!.So what if people dont understand(some adults act still immature and childish towards others/very uneducated)while other adults(or customers) may kinda understand but may seem flustered or impatient or in a rush bec they have had a bad day,their kid is driving them up a wall,
or they just want to go and relax at home.Some customers are patient,most of them to me seem the most caring/helpful/and well educated mature adults.Hope this helps :-)
