I know what you are thinking,he states in the opening blurb for this condition being called the Curse of the Vikings, and now it is more about them. But in the West Coast Scottish town of Largs there is held from end of August-start of September an annual event ,The Largs Viking Festival, which celebrates life back in the day when the Vikings were about looking at their way of daily life, food they ate,the work carried out in a typical village, and why? Well to celebrate the Battle Of Largs[1263] in which part of a Viking Fleet took part in combat with the Scottish forces on the shoreline of Largs,it is one of those battles which neither side really wanted to happen and which neither side really won or lost, but it all depends on which side you are as to who claims it as a victory. One of the events which makes up this week long festival is the Haakon Haakonson Lecture,at the one last year I happened to be sitting next to a young lady from Norway,it was not long after I had my left hand operated on,so the hand was still bandaged up and in its sling, she too had her left hand wrapped in a bandage and in a sling, but we never talked much during the course of the evening as we were listening to the talker for the night. At the end there is a chance to meet and greet with the speaker he saw the two of us coming towards him, both with the wings in slings and he said ;''there is no need to fight anymore''; so she explained that she had had her hand operated on for Dupyutren contracture, and I piped up yeah me too..he then became very interested as she was from Norway and me from [at that time ] Largs....it is more commonly linked to the male of the species, females if both parental lines have it,and with her being full Norwegian then that explains that..
