One day I was thinking about my life. I realized I was so sheltered and protected as if I was a turtle. All my life, my parents kept me close till the day I got married. My husband kept me protected and never had to worry about a thing. I didn't even know how to pump gas or dared to venture out too far alone. He was supportive and a good provider to me and our daughters. He passed away so suddenly and far away across the ocean nearly 4 years ago. Since then I had to come out of my shell and handle all matters thrown at me. Every little things that I have never done before became an achievement to me. I tried to drive to another city to meet friends for lunch. I went to electronic store to get help to purchase certain type of electrical cord for my elliptical machine. I am a turtle slowly coming out of the shell.
My Dad went through something quite similar. My mom passed away very unexpectedly. Now my dad could put gas in the car and go to work, but was clueless on the "domestic side". The other night I was so proud of him and how far he has come, he made a chicken breast with white sauce, roasted asparagus & a veggie. He didn't use a cook book but rather winged it. His new buddy is the crockpot lol!
That you so very much for sharing your story, my eyes needed a good cleaning and I mean that in the best way possible.
