I use to climb mountains for sport back in my college days. I enjoyed it so much, I would even skip classes to go on an outing.
It was late October and this would be the last mountain of the season. The name of it was Bear mountain in South Waterford, Maine! It was a very treacherous climb to the top, worthy of the most experienced climber and I was only an amature but not one to be denied my goal of reaching the top.
Huge Granite boulders the size of automobiles littered the bottom and the valley of rock stretched two thirds of the way up as if a giant were chiseling them off the side!
I made it past the sea of boulders to the sheer cliff and was using handholds of roots from trees growing out of the cracks in the rock. I used one such crack as a foot hold but slipped when I put the weight of my body on it and down I went. As I tumbled down, I was panic stricken at the thought of hitting the huge boulders at the bottom, feeling like my life would soon be over. Feelings of loss of control overwelmed me. This all happened in seconds but it seemed like an eternity! I prayed, "Lord, my life is in your hands! I accept whatever fate you plan for my future"!
Somehow, Someway, I rolled off toward the right which was a more gradual descent, toward the forest! I came to a sudden stop against a tree. My friend immediately came down and helped me to the car parked off busy route 2.nearby. My back was in terrible pain and my friend drove me to the nearest hospital about 13 miles away in a small western Maine town called Norway.
After lots of X-rays and a thorough examination in the ER, I was diagnosed with just a mild concussion.
They kept me overnight for observation to be on the safe side. The nurses gave me the nickname mountain climber and shared stories of others who had similar fates but with much more severe outcomes. I was relieved I wasn't one of them!
The following day was a Sunday and I was watching tv and relaxing as I was flipping through the channels. I was mesmerized by this preacher doing a sermen and I had this feeling I was about to hear something very important. I was not very religious at the time and normally would never have watched a tv preacher but I left it there just to see what he would say.
He had a rubber ball in his hand. He said, "I am going to show you how God creates miracles. You see, if he were to do a miracle on this ball, he would not stop the ball from bouncing"! Then he bounced the ball up and down! He continued, saying, "God would not change the laws of physics. He would only alter them temorarily!" Then he bounced the ball off to his left and said, "God would change the direction of the balls bounce!" Thats how God creates miracles!"
When I heard that, I felt a chill go up my spine. I knew that message was meant for me. I saw myself in that ball! I knew that I was alive for a reason although I am still not sure what that reason was. I think of that day often, especially when I am down and the thought of it brings new meaning into my life!
Funny how things happen and by the way, I no longer believe in coincidence!
God Bless and tc!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Thank you Bob, glad your ok from all of it.
God is Amazing - it wasn't your time.
Love,
Angel
