I'm going through something similar right now, the low feeling. Participating here helps. There is a local DBSA support group that helps. I also did not have a great therapist this last time around, and it seemed to make things worse instead of better. What I remember every day is there is a way. If I keep the option that there is a way out of this in my mind and keep the space for it in my mind, body and soul, then it can exist. If I don't, it cannot. I do my own version of praying a lot, mindfullness, giving attention and gratitude to and for the small things. Anything to pick me up. Music helps sometimes. I love singing, and I sing when I'm up and I sing when I'm down. Reading? Walking? Cooking? Church?

And yes, your life would be a loss to the entire world. The butterfly effect, remember? Hang in there. Tell us a story. What makes you laugh?

I was listening to some music on you tube that I like. I am a horse lover, wish I could own one. I was listening to Stronger, by Kanye West with a horse racing video attached to it.

When you reach a low point everything seems useless but it is up to us to pull ourselves out of it. You are important and have lots to offer the world. Maybe you should consider changing counselors. If one doesn't fit or seem to be helping, there are plenty of others and I'm sure one that will help and understand you. Try to stay busy and focus on living your best each day. Lily, I'm glad you found some music to help you. It is my firm belief that no one can be depressed while listening to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Nor can one be depressed in a library. I, too, love horses and have not ridden in some years, but it gives me something to look forward to. Thanks for sharing. Keep sharing. People are here who care. thanks for your well wishes. I have good and bad days. I'm trying to get myself motivated to finding a job. some days I feel like giving up on everything and other days I feel good about things

It is so hard without having support (a real hug, the virtual ones are nice too but nothing like feeling someone's arms around you and an encouraging word.

Have you looked for an in-person support group by you?

They offer lots of emotional support with real physical touch and often go out to socialize too.

I am going to a support group, they meet the 2nd and 4th Thurs. There is another support group that meets every Sat afternoon. I went to them once but was intimidated by the size. Now that I have gone to a smaller group I might try them again

I haven't heard of any support groups that socialize afterwards

When you make friends at these support groups, they usually go out for lunch or dinner after the meeting. Give it some time and get involved. You'll find new friends.

The support group I belong to meets Thurs evenings. The same people aren't always there. Last time we had a full house. 10 people, most we've ever had. usually there are about 5-7 of us. So it's hard to say if we'll bond that way.
