INSIST on medication for an apparent post op infection, to treat this blindly without these 'expensive tests' which consist of bacterial cultures that routinely are not done on dogs to begin with. Please get this animal something for what is apparently bothering her a lot and will only get worse!
What kind of an animal clinic is this, anyway? Please insist on treatment, and in the meanwhile try to find commitees or whatever for the ethical treatment of animals and also a vetinary board to report malpractice.

I'm not sure what kind of payment plan you are on, but what does it cover if they won't care for the dog? If they are not fulfilling their end of the contract by treating the dog, then they can't hold you to any payment plan. Sounds like they may be in breach of contract first.

I would get a second opinion as to what the problem is and to exactly why the scar is so jagged. Personally, I have never seen an outy belly button on a dog. And when we got our dogs fixed, you can't hardly see the scar it is so flat and smooth.

If they believe the problem is fungal they should just give you medication for it without all the tests. My dog has severe allergies and my vet treats the allergies. I actually switched vets because my old one talked me into getting a $250 test to find out what my dog is allergic to. Ended up being dust mites. . . all I can really do is treat her allergies. Paying for that test did nothing for us.

That original vet also wanted me to give her allergy shots that were very expensive. I switched vets and give her benedryl and some hydrocortizone ear drops and we keep it under control and her comfortable without those expensive monthly shots. The fist vet had me in tears telling me I needed to pay for these shots, put her down, or give her to someone who could afford the shots.

Not all vets are right or ethical. Get a second opinion and find a vet that you can work with. I am so glad I did. I couldn't imagine life without Gypsy, she is part of our family.

I agree about getting a 2nd opinion. Perhaps it is an overgrowth of scar tissue, which is a possible complication from any type of surgery.

im going to get a second opinion. im with banfield by the way. i started her out on the puppy plan,
for 100 down and 22 a month it covered her spay and all her shots and boosters for her first year.
ok fine. well i got stuck in another year cause in small print it says if you dont call a main office 10 days before your contract ends, it automatically renews. you get free office visits and check ups. but they always try to sell you something. one time they asked if she had been barfing. i said yeah, she barfed twice last night. i wasnt worried, dogs barf, she ate some grass. she wasnt acting any different. they tried to get me to pay 5 hundred for a throrough stomach x ray, tried to scare me saying she might have a blocked intestine cause she shouldnt barf twice in a night. i said the hell with them. im definately getting a second opinion.
and they always told me shots were so expensive. i have a dog who is 4 and always had his shots. apparently around this age they can start producing the antibodies themselves if they have been regularly vacinated and there is a 15 dollar blood test they can do to check the antibodies at this vet im going to next. and shots are cheap. they always give you this printout at banfield saying how much you saved, other vets charge hundreds, but we only charged you fifty. try the other way around in reality.
oh well. i learned. SO DONT GO WITH BANFIELD.
