This group is open for people that like dogs, have dogs as pets, work with dogs etc.
this place is located nationwide inside petsmarts' they offer a plan for like 99 down and 18 or 22 a month from then on that covers all vaccinations, exams, and spay/neuter and free office visits.
after my dogs spay, she developed a skin/growth/scar tissue on her belly at the point of incision, she had also had a hernia repair. they said nothing to worry about. well a year later its been itching her for months, and is slightly discolored around the area, it looks like dirt, but i cant get it to wash off. i took her in. they said well its not internal, but i can run all these tests, and as he started to walk back to run them i asked how much? he said 132 fro the first one. really? i dont have that just lying around. i said well is there anything i could do before we go to that point? he said it was probably bacterial but he had to run the tests to see what kind. i told him i didnt have the money right then. he said then there was nothing he could do, but i could buy these medicated wipes for 35 bucks... and there was no gaurantee it would do anything. i asked about them covering it since it was their doing, and he said no, that complications werent covered in the spay. ok fine. i just keep it clean now best i can and watch her.
now she has an ear problem. i took her in, i thougth it might be mites or an infection. i just wanted someone to look at her and tell me what to do at home, how bad did it look, or buy some ear cleaner of the right kind.
they REFUSED to look at her, unless i paid 158 bucks up front for the ear swab, and that did not cover medication or anything else. and offered to take me OFF the plan i had been paying every month for
NOW, at the beginning of the year, i had asked to be removed from the plan, i didnt need it anymore.. the REFUSED, saying i had to have phoned in 10 days prior to its automatic renewal. (it was 3 days prior when i asked) and said if i put a stop payment on it, i would be sent to collections for the full year owed. so fine. i stayed on the plan. now, because i cant pay 158 up front for an ear swab, they let me off the plan? after having taken my money this whole year. just awful. and when i asked for documentation that the plan was cancelled so i didnt get a collections bill or if they took it out i could prove that they werent suposed to.
they told me to leave, said they dont provide that documentation, and threatened to call the cops.
i said call them... and sat there till someone printed me something with my acount number saying that the plan was cancelled. i was perfectly entitled to that documentation.

Have you tried your local animal shelter, ours has a clinic that is usually more reasonable than Banfield. Also I use a traveling vet, he comes to our Camp Bow Wow once a month. Another possibility is if your dog's breed has a rescue near you they may be able to help.

I used to have to get our dogs prescription food from Petsmart. Banfield made me fill out a bunch of papers just to get a bags of dogfood even though I already an RX from my vet. The questions I had to answer where things like what time of day are you not at home? And do your dogs bite? Kind of made me wonder if they were going to try to break into my house or something. Then after buying my dog food from them for a couple of years all of sudden they decided they were going to quit selling food to people who used other vets instead of them. The vet got very hostile and told me off saying "What do you think I am some kind of a pharmacy or something??, You will have to bring your dogs HERE for veterinary services from now on or else they just won't eat, is that UNDERSTOOD??"
After I told my vet this she started ordering food for people whos dogs were on RX diets and I have not had to deal with Banfield again since.
whatever. i stayed right there. said what you gonna tell the cops? there is this lady here waiting for documentation that she is entitled to because we have her bank information, and we want her to leave?
what are they gonna do? arrest me? really. i wasnt calling anyone names, though i wanted to. i wasnt yelling and screaming. i just had to repeat myself a million times since they kept talking over me. banfield is ridiculous. i just cant believe they are so bad all over the country.. is it printed on their application that a requirement is to be an asshole? and not know what you are talking about? and to make peopel who are concerned about their dogs more concerned because they dont have thousands of dollars to give you? and if your dog is in for shots to make it sound like your dog will die if you dont buy them benedryl? absolutely ridiculous
