Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Hi everyone ... don't know if there are a few old familiar faces but I see a lot of new ones.
Just thought I would check in and say hello, give an update, maybe a word of encouragement.
It was 2 years ago today that my X moved out ... 24 years together gone in a flash. Took another year for the divorce to be final but now it's been a year since then too.
Was it easy that first year ... hell no. Was it easy the second year ... not exactly. How about now ... 2 full years since it ended .. is it easy now? Yes ... it's true. Life moves on and you will move along with it. There are many hills and valley's along the way, a lot of strangers who become your dear, dear friends and your support that you couldn't have made it without them.
I met a core group of people here 2 years ago who literally held me up .. my angels, my friends, my confidants. We shared a journey like no other we will ever share again and we all came through the other side. All of us ...
My heartfelt thanks to bugged, calliesbaby, cowgirlkathi, ellaC, fatallove, katiebee, MdawnR, missiann, nan56, nightingayle, pemdcat, sld1, zen, tibi and sunshine5.
Some of you I still keep in contact with but ALL of you will be a part of my heart forever as I know I will be a part of yours.
To those who are new here, struggling, trying desperately to just hang on, please know that you are never alone as long as you open your heart to the friends you will make here on DS. When your legs give out from under you, your friends here will be there to pick you up and give you the strength to make it through another day.
And I guarantee that someday you too will be back here writing a message to these old friends to let them know that you have made it. You have come out on the other side and you couldn't be happier.

I'm glad you're doing so good. I was asking someone on here if they had your new email address. I tried the last one I had from you and it was sent back. I obviously had an old one.

So glad to hear from you. I have thought about you this last year and had hoped that you were doing great. Your words of encourgement to all the newcomers is sure to be taken to heart.
