Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Yup, here comes another plug for one of my favorite books: "Getting Past Your Breakup: How To Turn A Devastating Loss Into the Best Thing That Ever Happened To You" by Susan J. Elliott, J.D., M.E.D.
Again, this is another extremely helpful book that I didn't know about until my divorce was over and done with. Just the same, I ordered it -- one can NEVER learn enough about oneself and it sure helps to quiet down all those leftover voices in your head even after the ink has dried on the divorce decree.
I recommend this book to anyone -- regardless of where they are in the process -- but my focus in this topic is from the afterword, which is entitled "Keep the Good Things Working In Your Life" -
1. Always keep the focus on YOU.
2. You get what you put up with.
3. Does it hurt when you do that? Don't do that!
4. Reject the rejector (hear, hear Tobywin!)
5. Remember: It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
6. Be good to YOURSELF.
7. Love is an action.
8. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Love the cliques: Kick em to the curve, shut em down, reject the rejector, and screw em......are just a few.
I just read the 8 things you wrote, and I haven't been doing them enough the past few weeks. I guess that's why I"ve been feeling overwhelmed. Actually, I don't have to guess. That is why I've had a rough time lately.
