Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Who on here believes in signs? For instance, coming home last night from work (2 hr drive) we had country station on. First song was "I wanna come home" next song right after was "highway don't care" and 3rd was "undo it" (carrie underwood). Keep in mind stbx is truck driver. I had to giggle. They just kind of summarized what I hope he's feeling. Ok who am I kidding. He doesn't feel anything.
Anyway I take that as a sign that as this all winds down (11 days) I could care less about him. Just want it over. Fairly though. Took 2 of us to create that 1 debt so 2 should share. The other smaller one he did entirely on his own but I'm paying. I pray nightly that God shows my lawyer the right path and installs the knowledge in her to get me justice. And that he enables the judge to clearly see what an ass stbx is and always will be. And no matter what court rules they better put fear into him to follow. Because I have no doubt he won't.

Timeman, I still can't listen to certain songs from the 70s - for obvious reasons. And I can't read fiction. It's weird because while I was at my saddest, I couldn't get enough of those fantasy and magic books - yes, even Harry Potter at my age!! Now no interest at all. I think I wanted to escape from my life, and now I've done it for real, I no longer need the books to take me away.
Nohappy, I'm praying for a fair resolution for you, too. It was a huge relief to me to be free at last.

Music: I was raised on country music. I just couldn't listen to it at all. So for three years I cut that out of mylife as much as possible. Now I can have that music back in my life.
I hope your atty, can get what you need for your new life.
I stopped listening to mainstream music years ago. It seemed to trigger me. Contemporary Christian music is uplifting and positive. There are tons of great artist these days that are not old fashioned like what my mother listened to while we were growing up. You may of even heard some of their songs and not know that they are from that genre because I sometimes here them while shopping in stores over the speakers.
(((HUGS))) I hope your attorney is able to get you what you need too. If you make much less money than your STBX you might ask about the division of debt being 60/40. Any little bit helps. My EX is a big spender and ran up most all of the debt. I used the credit cards too, but it was usually to buy groceries and things the kids needed (clothes, shoes, repair band instruments). The ratio was adjusted in my case. My lawyer suggested it. When you are talking about a lot of money 10% is a big help.
but i pray. and I get some signs that like said before, may not be what I had hoped for but still fixed my momentary need. this I know is God at his best. amen
And sometimes, those signs are in things that happen -- or don't happen.
I know if anyone would have told me a year ago that I was going to move to Naples, Florida I would have told them they were nuts. And then in January when I got a contract on my farm in Maryland, things just started happening. Disposing of all my equipment and stuff was easy -- and I never had to advertise. I found a great forever home for the lovely Miss Rio and got to move into this house that I am buying BEFORE closing. All signs that THIS is where I am SUPPOSED TO BE right now.
