I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Very interesting week

My week started with my son making the singing group Express and it ended (today) with my son winning song leading in the 12th grade division of our Church's Lads to Leaders competition. Now I am very proud but tonight it just hit me, I never once texted my Ex about his accomplishments this week. He texted me once trying to keep Ryan from coming to this convention (as if a tornado can be predicted in any way) and Ryan told him he was coming. For some reason, I just didn't even think about the Ex. Now that's progress. There was a time when I wanted to tell him things at random and now 2 big events happen this week and I didn't even think to involve him. I must have finally got it into my head that it is not my responsibility to keep the Ex in my sons' lives. It took me 2 years but I got it!

Now for Easter service in the morning, he will be leading singing in a convention of about 1000 people. Very cool!! What an Easter present!

That is two wonderful Easter presents. You have raised your sons to be good men and use the talents they have been blessed with. I think it is safe to say the ex is far from your mind.

You have come a long way and should be proud of your accomplishments too. Congratulations on this very talented son of yours.

Yay, Di. That's fantastic. Please let you son know how proud a crazy lady from the other side of the world is feeling. Lots and lots of luck with this great break and I hope it's the first of many.

As for your ex's absence from your thoughts, I couldn't be happier to hear that. It's wonderful to know you are free.

great news, you are one proud mamma. As for keeping stbx in the loop, that is not your job or your concerns. He gave up that right when he decided to leave. I forgot all about stbx when my daughter got accepted into her Master's program, fully funded too. He still does not know it (unless he got the news from someone else. But I doubt it.

Diane - I say GOOD FOR YOU in totally "forgetting" or "overlooing" the subconscious need or urge to communicate ANYTHING to your X. This is MAJOR PROGRESS and a sure sign that you have reached another level of recovery and New LIfe!

Congrats Diane! I picture you sitting in the congregation beaming as your son's voice rings out across the chapel!

As my own sons grow to become fine young men, I truly appreciate the sense of satisfaction in a job well done in raising them. And they will pass these values on to their own children (our future grandchildren - can't wait...please God give me a grand daughter after three sons!).

Don't be surprised if you actually feel a little sorry for the ex for missing out on his family's life. I found myself feeling this way yesterday after a wonderful family filled Good Friday. He gave up so much. For so long I though that it was ME who lost something!

Isn't progress and healing - and LIFE - wonderful?! Happy Easter. I hope things are better down your way after the terrible devastation of the weather...but Texans are resilient and spirited I've always thought. Better days ahead!

He did a great job! It actually wasn't in a chapel. It was at the "Gaylord Texan" in Dallas in a huge ballroom. I have a video that I will post on Facebook soon for those who are friends of mine on Facebook. . . . .Still no thoguht of the Ex!

    I had gone to the grocery store.  When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute.  A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked.  I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds.  But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026.  I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away.  It was an ordinary middle age...
