Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

it's been awhile since I have posted. Happy to see you are all still here.

A lot of positive things have happened. My son and I are talking again. He just acted like his phone call and what he said never happened. He is back to being a supportive loving son again.

my house is going to settlement on July 29th and the buyer has agreed to let me rent back until I go to settlement on my new place. I was looking at renting at a senior apt complex but I put in an offer to buy a condo over the weekend and it was accepted. What a blessing. Thank you Lord! I think I am still in shock! House is mostly packed up now, my sister in law came and got my butt moving lol.

Still dealing with my neck. New dr did an MRI will see her this week to go over MRI.

My x still crosses my mind from time to time especially with packing up the house and coming across pictures. the what was he thinking and what happened questions.

Hopefully, when I am in my new place, I will be able to let it all go,but I know it takes time and I have only been divorced since December 2015.

I would love updates on everyone. Feel like we have been out of touch since the new DS change.

Wonderful news all around for you. I hope you like your new home very much. I did find that having my own place helped me move forward. No joint memories in the new place helped a lot.

It's good to hear you're feeling better in general. I also find pictures bring unexpected memories and some more grieving. Moving into my own home has helped enormously. I have an unwritten rule that my ex will never be allowed to enter my home so no new sad memories can form here. Any family gatherings are at me children's homes or in public places. Good on you. I wish you much peace and joy in your condo.

Buying my own home was a huge step in the right direction for me. The first thing I did was plant over 200 spring bulbs...my mantra all winter was...when the spring bulbs bloom...so will I...and I did. It was a tough year but I broke out of the familiar and all the reminders that brings. I think you are doing the right thing...its a really great step in the right direction...Big Hugs...Kathy

I moved to my new condo on Sat, renting back till settlement. My son and daughter Cameron help, my stepdaughter did not respond. Hooked up my tv and router, took me awhile! Settlement on old house this Friday. I am feeling less stressful already. I am having a revue and muscle conduction test on 8/8, which I am not looking forward to. Hugs to everyone.

There is something about having our own place that takes some of the stress from our lives. You sound like your life is moving forward in a positive way.

It's been really hot and humid here this whole month. I have two new horses to care for and the two dogs. Staying busy is good for me.

seasonally, I dont know if its for real or just
a pipe dream, we will see. Its fun to think
