Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
If and when you still find yourself awake, busy your mind with an exercise. Envision and build your dream home in your mind. Walk through it, decorate it with your decor. Change and expand your mental home night after night.
I also found that repeating a series of prayers over and over helped until I drifted off.
But just to be sure, make an appointment for a physical. Waking up to use the bathroom at night is not normal unless you are elderly.
Loresapram ---- misspelled is a sleeping pill that I take one or two nights a week ,
It zonks me out when I need it ,
Simple prayers help me as well.
I used to take a herbal tablet with passiflora in it to calm me down.
Prior to the divorce and all the stresses of being estranged, one of the best tricks I ever learned was to do my mental shopping list. I'd mentally go through my pantry and fridge, deciding what I'd need to buy at my next shop. Boring!!! but it occupies your mind entirely so that you can't think about anything else at the same time. Next thing it's morning.
Post divorce etc, I used meditation recordings and rarely heard more than the first 15 minutes at the most.
good luck. I hope you find a way round it.

Last April when I moved down here to Florida, I was once again plagued with sleep issues. My new doctor prescribed Trazadone to be taken at bedtime. Definitely works and also helps keep low-level depression at bay.
Talk to your doctor but as others have said, exercise does help. Good luck to you!
When I wake up at 3:00 I take pill under
My tongue. Doc said I should be asleep
With 15 minutes & should stay asleep
Until alarm goes off at 6:30. Hopefully
This will work & allow me to catch up on
My sleep deficit.
I have begged doctor for a better sleep aid, and he continually tells me that my body doesn't need the sleep or I would get it.
I have tried exercise, I go to a personal trainer three times a week, but since I do that in the evening it leaves me pumped up so that the sleep Lorazipam doesnt even work.
I have been told HRT (hormone replacement therapy) might help, but being only early 40's I don't want to go that route yet.
I have found there are several ways I can deal with it.
I may read a bit until I get tired and go back to sleep soundly again, or I write in my journal and just dump the thoughts etc that are swirling through my brain, and then I can get back to sleep again.
Other techniques I use are consciously meditation and using relaxation techniques until I drift off again.
I also keep a bottle of Vitamin D gummies on my nightstand and if I just chew on one or two of those I find it really helps me to get back into a good deep sleep.
Hoping you manage to break this pattern and get back to having some good nights sleep again soon.
Up at 2:30 this morning I took the pill under
My tongue. Went back to sleep in about 15 minutes.
Slept until 9:00 am this morning. That was the most
Sleep I've gotten in months.
