Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

the gavel fell and the judge said "Divorce Granted" I have healed and am doing fine but its time...time for :

but I will be sticking around for I have made life long friends here, and some are still on their up and down hill journey, I feel I still have some "paying back" to do. Some I still want to meet and break bread with.

A word for the newbies....watch out, these are great people and they WILL become family....A DS family

pemdcat: I am DELIGHTED that you are going to stick around awhile! August 31 will be one year since I first discovered DS and even though I was long past my final divorce, I have seen the need for support and the wisdom of my experience here, so I stay! You have been inspirational for many people here and you are right -- this is a big, loving family. Wouldn't it be awesome to put together a National DS Convention sometime?

Heres to a year! The other day I forgot the date of my divorce, not the month.. the day. Who'd a thought! One of my guy friends who has been divorced 11 years had to think what year it was he was divorced.
We both looked at each other and said who cares? That is where you want to be.. Hugs

It's a musical Thursday - thanks for your story of hope, healing and strength. The song is great -- inspiration to look to the future. At this moment, it's hard to think ahead right now but this nudge is great.

Thanks for sharing. Always love the songs of inspiration. I never thought I could get used to being alone, but it's ok now. The deep sadness is gone. Just need to heal the rest of my heart.

Jack, I loved meeting you in ChiTown last fall. Hope we can see each other again (maybe when you are in Hamden visiting your brother).

I'm glad you stay to offer help to the newbies--that is what keeps me on DS.

You are so right about the family feeling here at DS. The people have been and continue to be my rock and where I come for support when I am at my lowest.
