Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

The divorce, more power to you. Someone is shining
Down on you.
During this phase of the divorce, life in general is just
Awful. Keep on keeping on it does get better with time.
My whole marriage was now about money and possessions.
It became sureal and left me feling empty and hurt inside
And outside. I had a good lawyer watching out for me and
To protect me. I was incapable of rational or sane thoughts
Myself about my soon to be ex. That is still a struggle.

I believe you are right to not mention anything about the house to him. I would consider not mentioning to him even after the divorce is finalized. You don't want him trying to find a legal way to steal it away from you.
Leave him to rot in his own world. He has no place in yours anymore. Say a prayer for sad souls and get on with your own life. Someday, you may even be able to ask for mercy and healing for him, but at the very least, try not to waste any more emotional energy on him than absolutely necessary to finish the divorce.
So glad for your good news.
I have a bit of a karma tale. We all knew the ex probably had a stash of cash somewhere overseas. Probably China. I wasn't going after it. Less than two years after the divorce the ex cut my alimony in half. It took a few months to find him and we had him served at work. The judge ordered him to pay me along with the biggest part of my atty fees. The ex left town and didn't pay up. It took about nine months to get him back in court. I had a big fat check to take to the bank. I told my atty that I think we had gotten into the ex's overseas money. There was no way he took that money out of the retirement accts his new wife was watching.
I put the farm on the market to sell according to our agreement. He quit paying me any money. We couldn't find him. He would call and say he was working temp jobs in different states. Nine months later, three process servers and my atty found him. The ex had bought a 3000 sq foot house in TN in a very upscale neighborhood. This time he paid all my atty fees and back alimony. Again no way did he take this out of his retirement.
All that money he hid was paid to me so the ex wouldn't go to jail. When you lie, cheat and steal it comes back to bite you in the butt. Now he is still working when he thought he would retire early. Karma took several years to catch up with the ex. All he had to do was tell his new wife the truth, pay me and he would still have his stash of cash. He could be retired by now.
Don't let that BMW set you back in your healing. Just sit back and watch. Eventually this will all catch up with him in some way.
I'm not sure about what karma means or how it works but I love these stories of how, as Kathy says, the playing field is leveled.
It's wonderful to hear the strength and renewed enthusiasm for life in your post. You're back!!

I am so glad that you have good news & are feeling better. Count your blessings that you finally see his true colors. And that very soon he will be totally out of your life, for good! Time to celebrate, celebrate, ... Dance to the music!!!
I would check with your attorney about the time frame & inheritance in your state, off the record.
On your way to a PH.D., you are not a loser. Enjoy the karma!
To me, a loser is someone that does not treat others with love & respect.
Thoughts & prayers, TCB
And I can see you beaming too. I'm so glad you have solid family behind you. It's something you will continue to need.
Some spouses come back at you if they
Think they were cheated or are vindictive
Or just nasty people.
I know of a few who are always in and out
Of court even after the decree.
