Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
get yourself a GOOD lawyer!!! and remember we are always here for you!!!!
I can't understand men anymore. Or some women for that matter. If a guy came up to me and told me he was leaving his pregnant wife, I would think he had lost his mind.
Hugs to you.
It is sad, his daughter, but that is a decision he has made and will have to live with the consequences! My story is very similar, but I wasn't pregnant, which doesn't help you cope, I know! Take life one step at a time and be proud of yourself for surviving that. Do you have family/friends there to support you? Do not be afraid to lean on them. I know I would not survive without them. Turn to us, we will listen! I do not know what snaps in people, but Karma will play it's role...you wait.
I wish you some peace! Get your strength from your precious children!
I wish I would have divorced him like you when I was pregnant. Now the kids are 3 years older and the baby who is now 3 1/2 is soo attached to him. Its her DADDY. If I had made the break I could have kept her and the older ones from so much heartache! I know it hurts the kids but I believe it is easier when they are younger!
I dont know but keep you chin up and always believe in yourself! Try hard not to feel sorry for HIM ( I know that is hard after spending so many years together). He has the problem. He is weak, pitiful and a loser. You are a great Mom and you were a great Wife dont ever let him take that away from you.
One day he will realize what a fool he was and by then it will be to late. The devestationg they leave behind is tremendous and they just move on like, what is the problem. I to believe in karma.
At this point for anyone to tell you that time will be your saving grace doesn't seem real to you, it will happen, trust me honey. When my daughter died at the age of 16 people told me this same thing, my only thought was, are you crazy, how can this ever get better it is my daughter. They were right, as time went by the loneliness, the homesickness, the pain in my heart etc, etc, it healed. I get moments where I still cry for her, but nothing like I EVER thought would happen for me. God has a way of taking care of all of this for us and it truely is time. I know it isn't fast enough for you, it never is. I also believe God allows this time for us to find alot out about our selves, and find a new and better direction in our lives.
You are a wonderful MOM, a great women in your own right, don't sell yourself short honey, life is there for the taking, take it and run.
Love and Prayes to you and your children
I read an article, can't remember where, of a man that wrote that he went back to his adult child's wedding, about 15 years after the divorce. His X was remarried and so was he with the woman he had the affair with. He said when he got there for the weekend event, he felt like a stranger. His X and her husband were very involved in the wedding, his other children were and "they" were a family. He said as he looked back over his life, he KNEW he was the one that lost the most and he regretted the decision he had made. Of course, it went into more detail but it was interesting to read that perspective. it doesn't change anything for us, but many times they have huge regrets. Huge hugs and prayers for you.
You loved an idea that, at least on his end, didn't really exist. He faked you out, and done you wrong. I'm so sorry.
What you feel is grief. Grieving the loss of your marriage. Grief has the stages of: denial, sadness, anger, bargaining, and resolution. It takes time, and sometimes counseling. I just want you to know it's normal.
But your kids need you. You are their rock, their weather vane, their everything, and you must put on your "oxygen mask" before you can put on theirs, kwim? Idiot has jumped out of the plane and either doesn't care or doesn't realize it will fly on without him. Being selfish, he'll eventually get hit by the "karma bus". The kids will "get over" this by grieving and moving on, and you'll have to set the example. Of course it will always have effects you cannot control, but you can maximize the healing process.
Sending you strength, a hug, and a prayer,
lmz
