I think for you this ia great decision. I know that you have been thinking about this for a long time. You have a "safety net" with family there so you are not moving to a place where you know no one and you have a place to stay until you find a place. For many people leaving the place that the marriage was is a good thing. This sounds like your case.

Believe me, finding a good job in this economy is huge. You will be starting a new chapter in a new place, with new people and a new start.

The divorce can be done long distance. My very good friend in her first marriage that ended in divorce a lot was done over the phone. Now they were younger and did not have a house to sell, but people sell houses when they are out of state all the time. When the day of divorce came, she was in judges chambers here and the stbx was in a judges chambers in Tx, and they swore them both in, did it over the speaker phone and they were divorced.. so a lot may be done with fax, phone etc..

I too am attempting to move possibly out of state if needed for employment. There's no doubt or second thoughts here. DO WITH YOU NEED TO DO TO SURVIVE. Go for it, definitely!!! You have family in Florida, so that's a bonus, but the best thing is that you are starting your new life.
Almost everyone I know who has sold a house in the past 2 years has done it long distance. Your realtor will be able to help you with this, no problem.

Stop this train, I am thrilled and excited for you! You will have family there so you in a way, "You are going home." A new job, a new life...wonderful! I agree with Ms. Terey...so much easier to not have to see them. Mine moved across country before our divorce was final and it was so much easier knowing I would not be running into him. As for the divorce, it didn't matter if he was here or not. They sent him the papers and neither one of had to go to court. My attorney did it all. Lots of love and good wishes to you!

My husband is 2000 miles away as he moved away. The attorneys have collaborated and as Louno said, it doesn't matter for the paperwork. I did not have to deal with a house sale through the divorce due to the move. I hope this goes well.

UPDATE: House is on the market..had a successful garage sale(my son organized it so I let him keep the proceeds!) We had our first "conference"with our lawyers. It was the first time I saw him in a year..truly sucked and I cried alot but at least the whole thing is now officially in the works. I quit my horrendous job and am busy packing. Now if I can just stop these sad dreams I think I may be doing ok!!! Thanks again x0x0x0x
