Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I have seen people that could hardly get out of bed, grow into STRONG willed people that are a force to be reckoned with. To the point that their STBX/X have backed down, because of their new found strength. So I too have seen the growth in all of us.
To the newbies, you will get there, it takes time, courage and openness. There is life after divorce and breakups.
Remember we are here for you , we are here for each other.
Amazing people with amazing strength of character and insight.
Its sad to read the new posts but it is also so wonderful that we can be here to help them and that they have found us!!
I haven't been on the site too often in the past few weeks because I'm focusing on a taking a test. But I try to check in periodically and see how everyone is doing. I promise that soon I'll see you all more frequently - test is the first week of April. With that said, I want to thank you all for being so real, for your wise counsel and perserverance. Hope we can truly meet some day in person! Love you all!!!
Did not expect or want to be here but I learnt long ago things are not fair and you have to make the best of what you have. 6 or 7 years ago I heard a message at church that has always stayed with me.
It went something like this... A man went to church and every week went to the alter and left a note. The first week he wrote "I was in a bad job and changed my job. Thank you, xxx. The next week the man wrote I was in a bad marriage and I changed that. What do you want me to do now? Sincerely, xxx. The following I was not as religious as I should have been. I now come every week and give 15% of my salary. Growing weary, xxx. The following week he wrote "Dear God, this week you took my beautiful child and job. Why? Why? Why? I have done everything I can to do the right thing and You pour the worse to me. What am I doing wrong? What do you want of me?? Lost and be wilted, xxx. The following week the brokenhearted man went to the alter with nothing. There was a piece of paper there. He opened It to see these words..." My dear child, You are not doing anything wrong but you have not yet learned to simply sign your name and let me fill in the rest."
Everyday troubles and trouble are so hurtful and channeling but with learning lessons and climbing this rocky hill we are making it with hands out to help us up and we extend our hand to help someone else. In this we have grown and meet people along the way that is touching and helping us. This is the silver lining I have been blessed with through this wonderful site. I Love You All So !!!!!
I did not think I would ever get here, but here I am with many of the dear friends I made so long ago. We have grown together and we have been a family! DS has pulled me through and out of the darkest days of my life! I know that there will still be rough roads ahead, but now I know I will survive it stronger than ever before!
I am proud of everyone and now we need to help those who are just beginning this hell! You will survive and we are here to say, we were there and we understand and we have survived!
Thank to everyone for everything you have done for me...for reaching out your hand to help pull me along, for opening your hearts when I needed love, for being there to cry and laugh with me, and for reassuring me that I would survive!
Many thank and hugs to you all!
What a ride it has been. My life is forever changed because of this situation and this site. The end of a marriage sucks. It just does. But it is NOT the end of everything. I was alive before I got married. I will be alive after I divorce. I just will.
Thanks to all who have been with me along the journey!
I'm so proud of the accomplishments that have been made by so many and of the efforts to move forward for those who have just arrived. It does get better - time makes a difference - and support is what helps you get there. Hats off to this group - much love and great thanks for being here.
