Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

I think what matters most is how you relate to what your therapist tells you. I had seen two others about problems with my daughter and really didn't get much from those sessions.
I likely would have gone for longer but it was very expensive and I just couldn't afford it anymore.
I think the number one factor is feeling a sense of trust with the person, no matter what their "style" is. I tried a few before I found my first therapist, and it just felt right with her. When I was about to move, I asked my current gal to recommend someone in my new town. She didn't know anyone but contacted one of her own mentors, who passed on a referral.
Another great reason to attend a support group is that you meet other people who can share their experiences and, hopefully, referrals to other resources. Don't settle - find someone you are comfortable with, who challenges you to think a different way! You'll know when you find the "right" one. Good luck!
