Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I was going to suggest that someone use their phone and record it live.. it is amazing what good video you get from a phone today or a good camera.. and then send it to you on the internet. Not the same, but good!
If all else fails, feel sorry for yourself, work it out that way. One of the big things about being divorced, no one to tell you how you should be feeling or acting... HUGS
I hope that seeing Ryan's performance on Facebook will help you feel better tonight.
((hugs))
I think you may be aware that I was to watch my son perform with Natalie Cole 2 weeks ago? Well, it flooded in my area at that time. The day and night before his performance, 4 roads out of my home town were cut off and more rain was forecast for the following days. It was a hard choice to make, but I am also on call to mind my grandchildren if my daughter goes into labour any day soon. I sat with the decision, looked up the weather and road alerts a million times, rang people to discuss it, and eventually decided I couldn't afford to be stuck in the city or worse, stuck on the way home by the roadside somewhere. I had to make the decision not to go. It was just plain awful. Then it didn't rain!!!!!
We make the best decisions we can at the time, Di. YOur son's work is important and it did snow. What else could you do? I think I made a well-considered decision and my son is very understanding. He had to make a similar choice a couple of years ago.
You're so lucky you'll still get to see your son's performance.
love and hugs

I wanted so badly to see my daughter at Christmas but alas in the end i could not afford it :(
It is not easy is it.
((hugssss))
It is good news that you will be able to see him perform next year but if you have to be sad about today for a little while that is OK.
Big huggles to you drtexdi, I so feel for you right now but take comfort in knowing your boy knows how you feel not being there but he will sense your love all around him :)
I sympathise with all of you whose children are too far away to visit often. I miss my son (3hrs drive) and my not-totally-estranged daughter (2hrs flight after a 3hr drive).
Yes we do seem to have a small group with talented children who work in the arts and music industries. Who would have thought? That's amazing!
Hugs!
