Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I heard an early morning text go off today and I thought, "Who is texting me so early?" I got kind of excited to check - I remember when my ex would text me all the time - especially first thing in the morning when I was on my way to work.
Well, it was him! he accidentally sent me a text this morning "Good morning my Love". I knew it was for the current girlfriend. So I replied "How did you mess that up?" He said, " OMG. But it will always be true.". I replied "F*** Off." Which I NEVER DO! I never say anything mean to him. It felt really good.
But I also was shaken and saddened and all that other crap. What a rotten start to my day.
His 25 year work anniversary party is today. He invited me - I don't know why! I am not attending nor are his kids. He messed up his life - he can live with it. Maybe current GF will go. I hope not. I hope he is alone with just work friends.

Please don't let him ruin your day. Why he invited you to his work anniversary party is beyond my comprehension, unless he is trying to "prove" to you that he's a "good" guy after what he did.

Cmonge, don't know how I would handle a text like that, and for him to heap another pile of crap on top of it to try to cover for his mistake, what nerve! Quite frankly, your comment strikes me as valid, he's dealing you a handful of BllSht and you're calling him on it. Not mean, just clarifying the fact that you noticed he's full of it.
Weird he would invite you to his work party.... but don't forget how delusional narcissists can be: spinning their little stories in their little heads to try to feel better about their little selves.
Good for you for not attending, but please try to let it go. He's not worth allowing your day to be messed up. You've come a long way.... keep up the good work.

I remember those early morning and late night texts, sigh. To this day I still, once in a while, wonder when I get a text if it might be him, it never is, it's been over 5 months of NC (yea me) but my heart does skip a beat from time to time. So I totally understand how this affected your little heart this morning. Hugs!!

I agree wit yougospam he probably freaked when he realized what he had done.
But it also makes me wonder if he sin't missing what you had, why else would he invite you to his work party.
Maybe take solice in the fact that the girlfriend isn't exactly what he thought it would be.
Also he's right when he used to texy you he did mean it. I still cherish that I was loved once.
